Google CEO Sundar Pichai said ‘India is a part of me, I take it with me wherever I go’

Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai has said that he always feels connected to India and carries his Indian identity with him wherever he goes. Pichai said this on the occasion of being awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award. Pichai said, “India is a part of me and I take it with me wherever I go.”
He was given this honor by India’s Ambassador to America, Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Pichai was on Friday conferred with India’s third highest civilian award in the presence of his close family members in San Francisco, US. Accepting the honor from India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Pichai said, “I am deeply grateful to the Government of India and the people of India for this honor.”

Sundar Pichai said, “India is a part of me, and I look forward to continuing the great partnership between Google and India as we work together to bring the benefits of technology to more people.” I am fortunate to have grown up in a family where the desire to learn and acquire knowledge was valued and nurtured.
Satya Nadella was also given the Padma Bhushan
In the year 2022, 16 people were honoured with the Padma Bhushan award. Along with Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was also given the Padma Bhushan. The Padma Bhushan in trade and industry was also given to Cyrus Poonawalla, whose company made the Covishield vaccine.

Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai on receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan award from the Indian Ambassador to the US said, “India is a part of me and I carry it with me.” Indian-American Sundar Pichai was awarded the Padma Bhushan for 2022 in the business and industry category. Madurai-born Sundar Pichai was named one of the 17 awardees earlier this year. He was conferred with India’s third highest civilian award in the presence of his close family members in San Francisco on Friday.
Accepting the award from India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, 50-year-old Sundar Pichai said, “I am extremely grateful to the Government of India and the people of India for this immense honour. The country that shaped me means so incredibly much.”
Sundar Pichai said, “India is a part of me. I take it with me wherever I go. Unlike this beautiful award, which I will keep safe somewhere. I was fortunate to grow up in a family that nurtured learning and knowledge.” My parents sacrificed a lot to make sure I got opportunities to explore my interests.”
Nagendra Prasad, Consul General of India in San Francisco TV was also present during the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that Sundar Pichai represents a paradigm shift in the limitless possibilities of technology. He is making commendable efforts towards making digital tools and skills accessible to different sections of the society in different parts of the world. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of technology combining 3S – speed, simplicity and service, Sandhu said Google will make full use of the digital revolution taking place in India.
To this Sundar Pichai said that it has been amazing to return to India many times over the years to witness the rapid pace of technological change. He said innovations ranging from digital payments to voice technology made in India are benefiting people around the world. “I look forward to continuing the great partnership between Google and India as we work together to bring the benefits of technology to more people,” he added.
Pichai said that businesses are also taking advantage of the opportunities of digital transformation and that more people have access to the Internet than ever before.
